The house was finished and the site was not. A timber-frame farmhouse and detached garage sat on an acre of graded red clay, with a circle drive poured, a freeform pool in the ground, and nothing else: no grade, no turf, no beds, no fence.

The center of the drive was the whole problem and the whole opportunity. BDS built the island: a stone fire feature on a paver band, ringed with turf and set true to the centerline of the entry gable so it reads as part of the architecture from the road. Everything else followed the same logic: beds cut to the building lines, an ornamental aluminum fence racked to follow the grade rather than stepping against it, and sod carried right to the pool deck.

This is the job that shows what BDS actually sells. The pool was somebody else's scope. The property was theirs.
