Landscaping in Oxford, AL
Newer growth beside Anniston, and the level ground to use it.
The ground in Oxford
Oxford runs along the I-20 corridor on comparatively level valley ground, with newer residential building spreading across what was farmland. Level and open, but the soil under a new subdivision here has been graded, driven on and skimmed back over rather than left alone.
What that means for the build
Level ground and new construction means the soil is the problem rather than the grade: compacted subsoil under thin fill, which has to be opened up before turf or planting will do anything. Hardscape sets easily on it once it is prepared properly.
The properties
Newer subdivisions and suburban homes on open lots, where the whole back yard is usually still a blank sheet.
What usually leads in Oxford
Every trade is available across the whole service area. These are the ones that tend to carry a Oxford project:
- Sod & Turf EstablishmentFinal grade, amendment, and sod laid tight with staggered joints. This is the single loudest change on any of these properties: clay to closed canopy in one day.
- Hardscape & Paver TerracesPool decks, terraces, walkways and stepping-stone paths. Compacted base, screeded bedding, cut edges and a locked perimeter. The part nobody sees is the part that decides whether it is still flat in ten years.
- Lighting & IrrigationLow-voltage lighting laid out for the walk up to the door and the view back at the house, plus zoned irrigation that keeps new sod and new plant material alive through a Georgia August.
All ten trades run in-house, so one crew and one schedule covers the whole job.
