Brandon Shurley
moves Georgia clay
Brandon Shurley started BDS in Floyd County in 2005. Two decades on, the company is still exactly his size: two crews, run personally, working the ring of towns around Rome: mostly residential, mostly new construction and new pools, and mostly the properties where the house got finished and the ground did not.
Read the reviews and notice what nobody writes: “BDS.” They write Brandon. Brandon and his team, Brandon and his crew, by name, the way you talk about someone who walked the property himself and answers when the same customer calls back three years later. In 2026 that reputation went on the record: winner of the Rome News-Tribune Best of Rome, 19th annual.
The work Brandon sells hardest is the unglamorous half: cut-and-fill grading, drainage behind a wall, compacted base under a terrace. Georgia clay holds water and moves with it. A paver terrace laid on unprepared clay looks identical to a properly based one for about two winters, and then it does not. That difference is most of what BDS sells, and it is the part you can only see in a photograph taken before the pretty part covered it up, which is why this site publishes the before frames at all.
Every job gets flown with a drone before the crew starts and again when it is finished, from the same angle, the same height and the same direction. That standard is written down as a shoot checklist and followed on every property, so the comparisons on this site are comparisons rather than two nice pictures of the same house. The featured set grows as jobs close.

Outside that list, ask anyway. Whether a job travels comes down to its size, not its zip code.
